DANOWSKI TRADED TO ROCHESTER

December 21, 2009

Matt Danowski, the NCAA's all-time points leader, was traded to the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for forward Mat MacLeod. Danowski, a native of Farmingdale, NY, scored 353 points at Duke University.

Rochester also acquires a conditional third round selection in the 2010 Entry Draft from Orlando.

The 24-year-old forward was a first round pick (seventh overall) by the Colorado Mammoth last season, and tallied 14 points over nine games in his rookie campaign. He is one of the most decorated players in NCAA history, winning the National Player of the Year, the Tewaaraton Trophy and USILA's Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award as the nation's top collegiate player in 2008. The Farmingdale, NY, native was a two-time winner of the Turnbull Award as the nation's top attackman (2007-08) and was a First Team All-American selection all four seasons at Duke. The forward also earned ACC Player of the Year honors twice (2005, 2007).

"Danowski is a scorer that can play transition and also step into the offense on the right side," said Knighthawks GM Curt Styres. "He works well without the ball and can fit right into our offense. He is young and athletic."
